All New Jersey product/brand registration(s) expire on Dec. 31, 2022. The product/brand renewal process will begin on Nov. 15 and brand registrants may initiate their renewals at that time. The state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is making changes to its registration and renewal process, which are expected to be implemented on Jan. 1, 2023. Specifically, to ensure that brand information is accurate and precise, NJ ABC will begin collecting UPC codes and/or TTB COLA numbers for all brand renewals and new product registrations. If a product has both numbers, both will be required when renewing or registering a new product. Detailed instructions for completing brand registrations will be available on the Posse Online Licensing System.
Renewals submitted before Jan. 1, 2023, may, but need not, include UPC codes and/or TTB COLA numbers. New registrations and renewals submitted after Jan. 1, 2023, must include UPC codes and/or TTB COLA numbers. All fees related to product registration are non-refundable. Products that are not renewed by Jan. 16, 2023, will automatically expire. Unregistered brands may not be sold in New Jersey. Questions should be directed to the NJ ABC Brand Unit at (609) 984-2830.
