Due to a recent law change in Kansas, the Out-of-State Special Order Shipping Gallonage Tax and Sales Report is changed from a quarterly report to a monthly report effective July 1, 2023. California wineries that hold Special Order Shipper licenses must electronically file their sales report and pay their gallonage tax for the July report period by Aug. 15. This change brings the Special Order Shipper reporting schedule into alignment with common carrier and fulfillment report periods.
Also effective on July 1, 2023, the collection of Montana taxes on wine will change from monthly to quarterly under legislation enacted earlier this year. This change applies to wine shipped directly to consumers in Montana by a California winery with a direct shipment endorsement or an out-of-state winery license. However, wineries that ship less than 1,000 liters per year to consumers or retailers in the State of Montana may continue to report and pay excise tax annually.
