Arkansas On-Site Direct-to-Consumer Permit Application Available

Wineries may now apply for permit to ship on-site sales to Arkansas consumers. Act 483 of 2013 allows the holder of a Wine Shipping Permit to ship up to 1 case of wine in any calendar quarter to an AR consumer that purchased the wine on the premises of the winery. The direct shipment of off-site sales (phone, fax and Internet orders) continue to be prohibited. Direct shippers are required to pay state sales and excise taxes, file monthly reports and pay an annual permit of $25. Wineries may only ship to a consumer’s private residence address. Additionally, Act 483 requires each shipment to have a shipping label provided by the Arkansas ABC. Alcohol-specific shipping labels provided by FedEx and UPS may be used in lieu of obtaining a label from the ABC. Wineries interested in applying must call the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, 501/682-1105 to obtain an application
