Legislation that will reduce the number of reports and tax filings for DTC shippers has been signed by the Governors of Iowa and Maryland. On July 1, 2015, Iowa will transition from a monthly reporting state to a semi-annual reporting state. In the future, wine DTC licensees in Iowa will be required to make their reports to the ABD on or before the 10th day of June and December, showing the exact amount of wine shipped during the preceding six-month calendar period. In Maryland, effective on October 1, 2015 a DTC wine shipper licensee will be required to report to the Comptroller’s office in a “prescribed manner”. Under current law, reports have been due once every quarter, but the Comptroller will be specifying the new reporting dates (we believe it will be annual filings) prior to the October effective date.
